Improvement of the Castelldefels WWPS screening system

The project optimises the screening system of the wastewater pumping station (WWPS) to remove waste, primarily wipes, which clog the discharge pumps.
An RCD2-type screening system, CCD 8-type canal gate, and a CT-type conveyor belt have been incorporated. The work is being carried out while the WWPS remains operational, ensuring continuous wastewater transfer to the Gavà Viladecans WWTP. The RCD2 screening grate is equipped with ten combs that clean the bars of the filtering section with high-frequency passes, preventing residue accumulation between the bars and the waste of decanted residues.
This operation protects the pumps from clogging, preventing blockages and ensuring their optimal performance.
Additionally, it optimises energy consumption by eliminating manual cleaning interventions and reducing maintenance or repair tasks.
The works carried out include:
- Design, manufacture, assembly and installation of equipment.
- Civil works, demolition and construction of walls using formwork.
- Extension of the electrical panel and integration in SCADA.
- Partial removal of the roof of the building to insert equipment.
- Adjustments, testing and commissioning.

Technical data
RCD2 screening grate
