Wall penstocks
Wall penstocks facilitate the passage of fluids, typically water, and are sealed on four sides.
A wall penstock is made up of four main parts: frame, gate, spindle and actuator. They are commonly installed in circular or square openings in walls. Their design prevents the passage of fluid up to heights greater than that of the gate but is limited by the maximum design height.
Sizes
Coutex Sorigué manufactures wall penstocks for any size and water load, using a variety of materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel (typically AISI 304L and 316L), and special alloys like duplex or super duplex.
Watertightness
They comply with the AWA C-561 / DIN 19569-4 Class 5 sealing standard and can incorporate sealing for fluid shut-off on either one side (unidirectional) or both sides (bidirectional) of the penstock.

Requirements
The following data are necessary for calculating the dimensions of the penstocks:
- The height and width of the opening to be covered.
- The maximum water level from the base of the penstock.
- The height of the manoeuvring floor.
- Shut-off type (unidirectional or bidirectional).
Type of drive (manual, electric, oil-hydraulic, or other).
Customisation
Depending on the dimensions and water load, the design of the penstock is adapted to the particular requirements and can be fitted with sliding runners or wheels to reduce the opening and closing effort.
