Sluice gates enable the isolation of canals that are typically navigable.

Sluices essentially consist of a gate and a drive system, and they facilitate the connection of canal sections with different water levels.

Gate

The gate consists of two parts in the form of a double-leaf door in an electro-welded structure, with a square or rectangular cross-section, to transmit the hydraulic force efficiently.

Drive

The drive system of the gate is typically oil-hydraulic and consists of cylinders and an oil-hydraulic power unit.

Technical data

Requirements

The following data are necessary for calculating the dimensions of the sluice gate:

  • Canal width.
  • Maximum water level measured from the base of the gate.

Watertightness

The rubber sealing gaskets are incorporated into the gate, closing against metal profiles installed in the civil works. The sluice gate is designed to be watertight on three sides so that the water level cannot exceed the height of the gate.

Adaptation

Coutex Sorigué sluice gates can be designed for any size and volume of water in a variety of materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, typically AISI 304L and 316L, etc
